Research Interests

Deterministic modeling of ocean surface gravity waves, including wind driving and dissipation. Physical mechanisms for the transport of nutrients to plankton, including the interactions between zooplankton and phytoplankton.

Biography

Prof. Willemsen holds a Ph.D from the University of Chicago (1972) and had extensive industrial applications experience with Schlumberger-Doll Research before coming to RSMAS. Prior to his industrial work he taught in the UCal system at Santa Cruz and was a research associate in the Center for Theoretical Physics at M.I.T. as well as at the Stanford Linear Accelorator Center.
