Research Associate Professor of Applied Marine Physics

Research Interests

Underwater acoustics. Signal processing. Instrumentation.

Biography

Dr. Nguyen has been Research Associate Professor at the Division of Applied Marine Physics, the Rosentiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science since 1984. He holds a Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan; a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami. He was Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Miami from 1978 to 1983. Born 16 January 1948; married; one child.

Experience

Dr. Nguyen's research interests include underwater acoustics, instrumentation and signal processing. He has over 20 years of experience and expertise in both analog and digital instrument system design. He has designed and built numerous acoustic instrument systems that were used in many different experiments. The most recent system is a three-dimensional acoustic arrays deployed in the ocean off Dania Beach as an underwater computer network that is also connected to the internet. He has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals on ocean acoustics and instrumentation.
