Workshop: Decadal Climate Prediction
UM’s Rosenstiel School will be the site for “Predicting the Climate of Coming Decades,” from January 11–14, 2010. The goal of this interdisciplinary workshop is to bring together researchers involved in developing climate prediction systems and potential users to discuss the prospects for decadal climate prediction. Water resources, long-term risk management, marine ecosystems, extreme weather events, coastal processes and public lands are among the topics to be discussed. Read more…
Scientists, Industry Monitor Water Column Together
SCOR and IAPSO have teamed up to establish the OceanScope Working Group, a way to bring science and industry together for the systematic study of the oceanic water column. OceanScope’s overall objective is to establish a global network of ocean observation platforms on commercial ships. University of Miami, NOAA and Royal Caribbean International’s partnership aboard Explorer of the Seas will serve as a pilot study and test bed for the new initiative. Read more…
